Privacy policy

Effective September 11, 2026

Crooner is a personal and household budgeting application operated by Evan Knight. This notice describes how Crooner handles information when you sign in, connect financial accounts, import records, and use optional features. Privacy and data requests: louiecrooner@gmail.com.

Information we collect and why

Plaid and financial connections

When you choose to connect a bank, Plaid Link presents its authorization flow. Plaid retrieves information from the accounts you authorize and makes it available to Crooner. See the Plaid End User Privacy Policy. Crooner's current bank integration is read-only: it does not initiate payments or trades.

Household sharing

Approved members of the same household can view household financial information. Joining or being approved for a household is not a promise of private, individual-only transaction visibility. Connection management is tied to the signed-in connection owner; switching a financial view does not change that ownership. Consider household access before connecting accounts or adding another member.

Optional Gmail connection

If you connect Gmail for Venmo imports, Google requests a read-only Gmail permission that can technically access your mailbox. Crooner's importer searches for Venmo notification messages and extracts payment details; it does not store the full email bodies in its database. Imported transaction details remain financial records. Disconnecting Gmail removes the stored connection, but does not automatically erase already imported transactions. You can separately revoke Google's authorization in your Google account.

Optional AI assistant

When you use chat, your messages, submitted attachments, page context, and financial records retrieved to answer your request may be sent to Anthropic to generate a response. Responses may be inaccurate. Financial information accessed through authorized household views can be included. Do not submit information you do not want processed for this purpose. This notice does not claim that Crooner has independently verified every provider's retention or model-training settings.

Service providers and other disclosures

Crooner uses Vercel for hosting, Supabase for database services, Google for sign-in and optional Gmail access, Plaid for bank connectivity, and Anthropic for optional AI processing. Authorized operational tools and personnel may access information when necessary to operate, support, or secure Crooner. Information may also be disclosed when legally required or necessary to address fraud or security incidents. Crooner does not sell personal financial information or use it for targeted advertising.

Storage and retention

Financial history is retained to provide historical budgeting features. Crooner currently has no automatic age-based deletion schedule. Disconnecting or revoking a financial connection stops or limits future access but does not itself delete records already imported into Crooner. Browser-stored preferences and chat state may remain on your device until cleared. Provider logs, backups, and authorized operational copies may have separate retention periods; deletion from the active database does not imply immediate deletion from every backup.

Your choices and requests

Contact louiecrooner@gmail.com to request access, correction, deletion, or help ending a connection. Use your sign-in email and describe your request; do not send passwords, bank credentials, or full account numbers. The operator may need to verify your identity and clarify which records belong to you, particularly for shared households. Requests are handled manually; there is not currently a self-service complete-account deletion feature. Any retention limitations or records that cannot be deleted will be explained when handling your request. Applicable legal rights are not limited by this notice.

You can also manage Plaid permissions through Plaid Portal. A request to Plaid does not necessarily delete Crooner's separately stored records, and a request to Crooner does not necessarily delete Plaid's records.

Security and changes

We use the safeguards described on our security practices page. No system is guaranteed secure. We will update this notice when our practices change and revise its effective date. Material changes should be reviewed before continuing to use the affected features.
